One of Scotland’s biggest organics recycling firms, Turiff-based firm Keenan Recycling Ltd, which turns food and garden waste into
compost products, has become the latest major Scottish company to sign up to Zero Waste Scotland’s Resource Sector Commitment.
Managing Director Grant Keenan joined forces with Zero Waste Scotland at RWM in Birmingham this month, the largest event in the resource management industry’s calendar, (held from 16th-18th September), to encourage more firms to follow Keenan’s example and put its name to the Resource Sector Commitment.
The Resource Sector Commitment is a ‘kite mark’ for resource management companies, showing commitment to customer service which resonates with Scottish customers.
The aim is to promote continuous improvement, excellent customer service, and to enable businesses to reduce waste and be more resource efficient. The commitment is for any organisation involved in providing waste or resource management services to commercial customers in Scotland. This includes local authorities, private and third sector resource management businesses and resource management associations and trade bodies.
Today (Monday 22nd September 2014) also sees the launch of a new video about the Resource Sector Commitment, featuring Keenan Recycling. It can be viewed at http://vimeo.com/106497616
Grant Keenan, Management Director, Keenan Recycling Ltd, said:
“We signed up to the Resource Sector Commitment primarily to demonstrate our commitment to excellence in the waste management sector. We found the sign up process simple and straightforward and well worth doing. Becoming a signatory lets everybody know that we’re committed to excellence in our arena, and anything that gives you a head start in business is a good idea.
“All our staff are knowledgeable and well-trained in customer service. At the end of the day, if you don’t have customers, you don’t have business.”
Iain Gulland, Director, Zero Waste Scotland said:
“Zero Waste Scotland is delighted to welcome Keenan recycling as our latest signatory to the Resource Sector Commitment, showing their determination to provide excellent customer service, and it’s great we were able to announce this news at the biggest event in the resource management calendar, RWM.
“Signing up to the commitment is a great way for organisations to show their customers and stakeholders that they are operating at the highest level of customer service. It’s a seal of quality that gives providers and contractors who are committed to excellence a way of standing out from their competitors and peers, and to gain recognition for their efforts to support the Scottish Government’s Zero Waste Plan.
