Following its acquisition of JouleX software, Cisco has extended its EnergyWise suite to measure and control not just the energy use of an enterprise’s IT network, but all connected devices across distributed office and data centre environments.

Cisco EnergyWise Suite helps customers reduce energy costs by an average of 35% by monitoring, measuring and managing the energy use of all network-connected devices and systems regardless of vendor or device type, including switches and routers, servers, access points, IP phones, laptops, monitors and even ATM machines.

Gartner claims that IT energy use accounts for 25-80% of enterprise energy consumption.
