Green Square officially launched its newest dedicated renewable energy showroom in Tunbridge Wells in Kent on Tuesday 14th July.

Opening celebrations kicked off with the students of Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys delivering a thorough and impressive presentation explaining the types of renewable energy and the positive impact they have on the environment in reducing carbon emissions.

Next, nine years old Alesha Calvert from All Saints CE Junior Academy, was presented with her very own iPad and £250 for her school to spend on environmental projects, having won the House of the Future competition. Children aged seven to 16 across Kent and East Sussex were invited to design a futuristic eco-house in any style they liked. Alesha’s stood out for its innovation, creativity and intricate thought process.

Following his speech, Councillor David Neve, the Deputy Mayor of Tunbridge Wells, officially announced Green Square Tunbridge Wells open before joining local business representatives, to take a look around the new centre and enjoy the lunch provided.

Paul Smith, Centre Manager of Green Square Tunbridge Wells, said:

“We are very excited to finally be here in Tunbridge Wells; we’ve received an excellent response from people locally so far, many keen to switch to green energy supplies. The launch exceeded our expectations and the presentation from the Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys was very thought provoking, demonstrating the important views of the future generation. Our doors are now open to anyone wanting to learn more about renewables and I look forward to talking to homeowners and businesses in Kent about this.”

Following the speeches, the guests were invited to get ‘hands on’ and learn more about renewable energy technology on display.
