The Mall at Cribbs Causeway is pleased to welcome one of the leading businesses in sustainable transport, Tesla, to a new store in the centre. The temporary shop serves as a show room for Tesla’s electric cars, which are leading the market with class leading
performance and practical range.
The 2,110 sq ft shop unit has been launched alongside a Tesla Supercharger in The Mall’s car park – one of 14 permanent charging locations nationwide that is free to use for Tesla owners. Taking advantage of The Mall’s position at the “apex of the South West” on the M4 and M5, Tesla added The Mall to its growing network of UK Supercharger locations, which now number nearly 300 worldwide. Tesla plans full UK and Irish coverage by the end of next year to enable long distance travel up and down the country that links to the European Supercharger network.
The arrival of Tesla is the latest step for The Mall in its own drive to improve its sustainability credentials. It has seen reductions of waste going to landfill of up to 37.5% annually and more than 7% reduced electricity usage year-on-year. The centre has also set up a number of sustainable transport initiatives including a special bus travel card for its staff, taken up by more than 600 employees to date, and improved cycle facilities.
Commenting on behalf of the joint owners of The Mall, Julie Lawrence, Director – Asset Management and Leasing at M&G Real Estate, says: “US-based company, Tesla makes a great addition to The Mall’s line-up and its arrival is evidence of The Mall’s role as the regional hub for the South West. With Bristol serving as the European Green Capital in 2015, we know the Tesla Supercharger and the store we are currently hosting will serve as another great attraction for shoppers to Cribbs.”
The Mall at Cribbs Causeway is owned by M&G Real Estate, intu and JT Baylis. GVA and Cushman & Wakefield represent the owners of The Mall.
