The work Travis Perkins plc has undertaken with VitalMetrics has received the Supplier Leadership Award from the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council (SPLC).
The Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council (SPLC), based in the USA, has presented VitalMetrics with the prestigious Supplier Leadership Award for work undertaken with Travis Perkins plc in providing sustainability impact spend analysis services. The work, commissioned by Travis Perkins plc and completed by VitalMetrics provides a comprehensive view of the sustainability impacts associated with the Group’s whole supply chain. This in turn informs issues of commercial and reputational risk and opportunity – not least with regard to efficiency and resiliency.
In 2014, Travis Perkins plc demonstrated commitment to managing and mitigating environmental impacts across its supply chain by commissioning VitalMetrics to undertake an extensive analysis of multiple sustainability impacts associated with the Group’s purchasing. VitalMetrics analysed Travis Perkins plc’s supply chain impacts – those impacts related to the extraction, production and transportation of the materials and products that the Group purchases, and that derive from activities that are not directly controlled by Travis Perkins plc.
The assessment was not just limited to greenhouse gas emissions, but included analysis of water usage, energy consumption and waste production, therefore providing an exceptionally comprehensive overview of the environmental impacts of the Group’s supply chain. This information allows Travis Perkins plc to focus environmental initiatives on specific areas and products that contribute the most to its supply chain impacts, and to more effectively work to reduce those impacts. The Group will also be able to report with more confidence on the impacts of its own procurement, as well as being able to help suppliers identify areas of their operations where improvements can be made.
